Micah Player

Author-Illustrator

Micah Player is an author and illustrator of books and games. He studied graphic design at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City before moving to Southern California to work in the apparel industry. His first picture book, Chloe, Instead, was published by Chronicle Books in 2012. He has gone on to work with MacMillan, Simon & Schuster, American Girl, Paul Frank Industries, The Land of Nod, Penguin Random House, Harper Kids, Scwhartz & Wade, Roaring Brook, Little Bee Books, Houghton Mifflin, Hippo Park, Rocky Pond and a bunch of other rad places. His book Friday Night Wrestlefest with Jenn Fox won the Minnesota Star of the North Award and the Oklahoma Redbud Read-Aloud Award, thanks to the votes of thousands of public school students. Both Millions of Maxes with Meg Wolitzer and Paletero Man with Lucky Diaz (A Junior Library Guild Selection) were on the Bank Street list of Best Picture Books of the Year. Not Enough Lollipops with Megan Maynor was featured in the Society of Illustrators Original Art Show. Rich digital color, washy textures, sharp mid-century inspired shapes, and expressive ink lettering define his style. He and his family live in a little house beneath a big tree in Cedar City, Utah.
