The Land We're On

We host our festival in Cedar City, Utah, which we understand as the ancestorial homeland of the Nung’wu, or Southern Paiute People.

To honor our goal of community-wide engagement with literature, we invite the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah to share stories and cultural knowledge as part of our programming.

Our Values

Literacy

We believe that literacy is the foundation of communicating, learning, thinking, and working. As such, we support storytellers and authors of all kinds and encourage people of all ages to read and write.

Community

Southern Utah has a diverse population, one that can be brought together by a shared love of literature. We believe that varied perspectives and open dialogue promote stronger community, heightened learning, and greater empathy.

Education

Learning has no age limit. We are committed to providing educational opportunities for children, teens, and adults of all ages, which we hope will inspire curiosity and create community and family engagement.

Collaboration

We know that nothing great is accomplished alone—not learning to read, not writing a novel, and not producing a festival. We value our community and deeply appreciate those who help us achieve our mission.
